The path of neo game review
And the first fighting level is a reference to Bruce Lee in "Enter the dragon" So for fans of this genre this is a must see. Being Neo is really cool. Most of his moves he does in the movie you can do in the game special mention: the round twist kick with his pole in "Burly Brawl" where he fights 's of Smith's,really satisfying move to do in the game. Only you can not fly at will, you can jump high and very high but not fly like he does in the movie.
I think this is a missed chance, but is not necessary to enjoy the game fully! The graphics in general are not that bad,but could have been much better. The PS2 has even worse graphics as the xbox but it can be improved with a component cable and lcd TV.
Although the action sometimes get confusing and chaotic and the controls are not great, the game play is more than fantastic and satisfying. There is an alternative ending which is a reference to Japanese Monster movies.
This game like the matrix trilogy is pure entertainment. It is fun being Neo in this game and that is what it is about. Go play it! Addendum Aug I am still enjoying the game even when it is full of flaws.
The huge fun factor makes up for all of this. Pretty good game to check out MovieCriticMarvelfan 21 December It is as good as the commercials imply the next "big thing to hit console system is not an ape". LOL This game is pretty awesome, just like "Enter the Matrix" it never gets too boring and thus live up to expectations for the most part. OK there are some drawbacks but really the graphics, controls and cool Matrix moves you can pull out along with playing Neo for the first time are all bonuses!!!!
That was the major complaint two years from Matrix fans, now Neo is the main character. Let's see how the games builds up shall we folks: Graphics: The graphics were quite excellent if I must say so, I really don't know what geeks complain about saying it sucks.
The characters look just like they did in the Matrix including Neo. The movie looks spectacular in full color. On a big screen TV , the graphics rule.
Lots of detail everywhere showing the Matrix Very nice. Sound Yep great here as well, the actors from the movie do provide some of their voices, the game itself uses clips and audio for the movie so you really feel like you're in the movie!!!!! How cool is that. That has to be very cool. Controls The controls OK we're perhaps the weakest part to some gamers, but I thought they were good. You have a whole can of butt-kicking matrix combos to do here.
The most powerful ones will keep you alive especially when you meet up with the Agent Smith and others. Challenge The challenge is pretty cool. It is sub-par but only because I consider myself a veteran gamer with decades of experience here. Most vets will pass the game within a week or two. However, that doesn't take away too much from the pleasure here.
The game is pretty challenging when it needs to be. The battles with the Agents have to be the highlight. There are some spectacular battles that make this game buying or rent. I would recommend this game to any fan of the movie, or Matrix universe. You will not be disappointed and it would make a great Christmas gift.
Batkid1 20 October It's action-packed, allows the player options on how to advance Neo, you play in training missions set before the film and even when you're playing a level from the movies, it's totally not like the movie. You can even hit people back with your guns, then punch them in slow-motion while they're falling backwards.
The only voice from the series returning is Laurence Fishbourne, but that's not bad because all the voice actors have better voices then the actors that portrayed them in the films with the exception of the person who voiced Agent Smith, who is so not Hugo Weaving!
While I kinda liked "Enter the Matrix" better, this is still a "must-play! Better then "Enter the Matrix" But not by much. Lets face facts. Enter the matrix was a decent action game hosed down in matrix juice. But it lacked one key thing, NEO! Who the hell wanted to play as 2th rate background characters when everyone and there mother wanted to play as the one?
The path of neo, corrects this error but still gives us a lot of the same old thing that was in Enter the matrix.
The only real thing thats different is that we are Neo and we have a video game style conclusion to the game. T Team members, solders, and agents, oh yes, and giant ants. And half the time your on some sort of training or escort mission. Thankfully most of the AI in this game has some common sense to hide or take cover, or even fight back, which is a plus. But for most of the game its still the same old beat em up matrix style done over and over again with a very weird ending.
In closing, its a decent game but not worth 50 dollars. A Matrix Fan Must-Have! CrowBat 4 January It has qualities that will be liked by some and be disliked by others.
It all depends on your preferences. First of all, it seems that the Wachowski brothers strayed from the dramatic feel of the movies and made the game strictly a video game. After spawning two mediocre sequels, a collection of dull cartoon shorts and a couple of forgettable video games, there is some life left in the Matrix franchise after all, as this game proves.
PC Gamer. This game doesn't take itself too seriously especially the new surprise ending , which is either a credit or a fault depending on how seriously you take the movies. All this publication's reviews. Computer Gaming World. Decent but dated, this is best for the die-hard Matrix fans who still believe. Computer and Video Games. It's like people just can't bring themselves to accept the truth here: The Matrix: Path Of Neo is an irredeemable abortion of a game that Atari, Shiny, the Wachowski brothers and anyone even remotely associated with it should be ashamed for ever thinking about releasing in this form.

Just play this game, this game really rocks! The game still rocks my gaming world - yeahh, the graphic maybe was not top notch even for the time, but nevertheless the game still has one The game still rocks my gaming world - yeahh, the graphic maybe was not top notch even for the time, but nevertheless the game still has one of the best fighting mechanics.
I really love it! This game is very well put together, the visuals are amazing. Atari has taken a step in the right direction, after there previous failures.
This game is bad. It's terribly imprecise. Fortunately, if you do have an analog-based control pad, the game does support them. Unfortunately, dual analog support doesn't seem to be available. We tried a couple of dual analog pads and could never get the right stick to map to anything other than camera zoom--not camera movement.
You'll ultimately have to map camera movement to buttons, it seems. It also bears mentioning that when the game tries to stray too far from pure combat sequences, it isn't very good. The lone standout is the decent turret shooting sequence that emulates the big helicopter rescue from the first film. Otherwise, it's just stuff like that half-baked stealth episode at the beginning of the game, as well as random bits of puzzle-solving that require little thought to solve but can be a bit opaque in design.
There are even some combat sequences that feel extraneous. For instance, there's a whole three-tiered sequence added to the scene in the Merovingian's house from the second movie that combines both the puzzle-solving and the combat, and it's ultimately the least enjoyable part of the entire game.
However, that doesn't mean every original sequence written for the game is not enjoyable--it just means that several of them stand out as unnecessary padding in an effort to make the game a little longer.
With the amount of particle effects, debris, and crazy action going on during Path of Neo's fight sequences, it doesn't come as a major shock that the core graphics don't look very good at all. The character models look especially heinous up close, with seriously low-res-looking faces that appear mutated at times.
Fortunately, apart from in-engine cutscenes, you're rarely looking at the models that close, and from the default in-game perspective, everything looks at least decent. The amount of destruction you can cause is really impressive.
When you're playing that big lobby shoot-out from the first film, you'll see all the pieces of scenery breaking apart as it's pierced by bullets and bodies. Unfortunately, the more madness onscreen, the worse the frame rate gets. It's not quite the frame-per-second slowdown you'll see in the console versions, but the frame rate is definitely not perfect in the PC version.
And this notion is more upsetting by virtue of the fact that this game looks like a really cheap console port. Everything is blurry, muddy, and unpleasant looking. Cranking up the resolution or rendering effects doesn't seem to do much to counteract it, either.
It's not often that we'll say a console version of a game looks better than the PC version, but in the case of Path of Neo, it's absolutely true. Matrix fans might enjoy what Path of Neo offers--just don't take any of it too seriously. The audio fares quite a bit better. Although Laurence Fishburne is the only main actor to return and voice new dialogue for the game, the soundalikes that Shiny picked up to play Neo, Smith, Trinity, and the rest of the bunch are all more than competent.
Certainly plenty of people have yearned to be able to do all the crazy crap that Neo could pull off in the movies, and Path of Neo delivers in this respect. Undoubtedly some fans will take serious issue with the untidy editing and bizarre tone, and the gameplay might be a bit too much to deal with for those who prefer their action with a tad more method to its madness.
But beyond these problems lies an appreciable amount of high-flying action that's well suited for what The Matrix has always been about: kicking ass and looking cool doing it.
The game's story is written and directed by the Wachowski siblings, who created the movie trilogy. You need a javascript enabled browser to watch videos.
